Located on the Pacific Coast in the southern part of California, Ventura County is often referred to as the Gold Coast and is known as one of the safest places in the U.S. It’s ranked as one of the top 100 highest-income counties in the country. The county seat is the city of Ventura. In past times the region was inhabited by the Chumash Indians. Ventura County can be divided in two major parts - East and West County. East County consists of all cities east of the Conejo Grade; West County is home to large beach communities, located on the coastline of the Channel Islands Harbor. Ventura County offers great beaches, campgrounds, National Forests, marinas and parks. The county is home to three community colleges, the new California State University Campus and California Lutheran University. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores have consistently exceeded both state and national averages for the past 10 years. Ventura County’s outstanding school districts with State and National Academic Decathlon winning high schools, friendly communities and beautiful nature make it a great place to live in and study.
