Formed in 1852, the County of Tulare is situated in the heart of the Central Valley in California and is also home to the World Ag Expo. The geographic region is diverse and agriculturally rich. Its population is more than 420,000, mostly urban. The eastern half of the county is made of mainly public lands, including the Sequoia National Park, National Forest, and the Mineral King, Golden Trout, and Domelands Wilderness areas. There is a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for every season like hiking, water and snow skiing, fishing, white water rafting and boating. Visalia, the County seat, is the gateway to Sequoia National Park and a number of activities. The Tulare County Office of Education provides services to over 93,000 students and 46 county school districts. The county’s family-oriented lifestyle, great schools and affordable housing have proven attractive to people from all over the state and country.
