Part of the Inland Empire region, San Bernardino County is the largest county in the United States by area, with mostly urban population of over 2 million and a county seat San Bernardino. The deserts and mountains of this vast county encompass the areas from the outskirts of the densely populated Riverside-San Bernardino Area to the Nevada border and the Colorado River. San Bernardino County is one of the few counties in the US to border as many as 8 counties. Earthquakes are a fact of life in the region. Six national protected areas are partially located in the county, among which are Angeles National Forest, Havasu National Wildlife Refuge and Mojave National Preserve. San Bernardino is home to quite a few great colleges and universities as well as numerous school districts, making it a wonderful place to call a home and study in.
