Known for its famous resorts like Palm Springs, Indian Wells, La Quinta and Rancho Mirage, Riverside County is located in the southeastern part of California, with population of over 2 million. The county seat is the city of Riverside. Part of Joshua Tree National Park lies in the county, which geographically is a desert. Riverside’s development and growth began in the 1970s as a major real estate destination. It’s also home to a number of colleges and universities including La Sierra University, College of the Desert, Riverside Community College and University of California, Riverside. Some places of interest are Salt Creek Campground, Hidden Palms State Ecological Reserve, Herkey Creek Park and Salton Beach. With its beautiful nature, great schools and popular resorts, Riverside County is a great place to live in and study.
