Imperial County is located in the Imperial Valley, in the far southeast corner of California, and has the largest port with Mexico. The county seat is the city of El Centro. Formed in 1907, it’s the newest county in the state of California. Some places of interest are Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, Picacho State Recreation Area, Palo Verde County Park and Haughtelin Lake. The county also offers beautiful beaches like Sandy Beach, Bombay and Sea View Beach. Fun facts about the county include scenes from Star Wars being filmed in the Imperial Valley sand dunes and Independence Day was also located in the Imperial Valley.
