Formed on March 5, 1891, Glenn County is located in the Central Valley, in the northern part of California, about half way between Sacramento and Redding. With over a thousand farms, Glenn County is primarily an agricultural community with mountains on the west, rich farm lands, and the Sacramento River on the east. The county seat is the city of Willows. It was named after Dr. Hugh J. Glenn, the largest wheat farmer in the state during his lifetime. Some places of interest are Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, Orland Buttes Recreation Area, Thunderhill Raceway Park, Montgomery Creek and Butte City Launch Facility. Glenn County’s population is a little under 27,000.
